Abstract

Am 3. Mai 2022 kamen über 70 Schreibzentrum-Profis, Tutoren und Studenten zu einer virtuellen Diskussion zusammen, um von sechs erfahrenen Kollegen über antirassistische Ansätze im kanadischen Hochschulkontext zu lernen. Einsichten eines siebten, abwesenden Kollegen wurden ebenfalls einbezogen.
Als Teilnehmer des Bildungssystems tragen wir zu einer von systemischem Rassismus und weißer Vorherrschaft durchdrungenen Struktur bei. Historisch und aktuell werden akademisches Schreiben und die englische Sprache genutzt, um Menschen aufgrund ihrer Hautfarbe, Herkunft oder Identität zu unterdrücken. Doch Schreiben und Sprache bieten auch das Potential für antioppressive Maßnahmen.
Wie können wir unser Engagement für antirassistisches Schreiben nutzen, um Veränderungen herbeizuführen? Wie können wir effektiv mit Lehrkräften und Verwaltung zusammenarbeiten, um die Praxis des Schreibens und der Sprachverwendung an Hochschulen zu verbessern? In der Diskussion teilten die Panelisten ihre Erfahrungen und gaben praktische Ratschläge für effektives Eintreten für diese Sache.
